”We are one of the most active researchers in Finland in the field of osteoporosis diagnostics. This is a great achievement for the start-up company. We have to also deeply thank all our international partners” says Dr. Ossi Riekkinen, CEO of Bone Index.
”USA is the largest medical device market and there is a clear need for our product. Now we have done clinical trials in USA and proceed to application submission for FDA clearance” says Dr. Riekkinen.
Osteoporosis is responsible for two million broken bones every year in the USA. These fractures translate to total costs of about 19 billion dollars. Experts forecast that by 2015, the expenses due fractures rise up to 25.3 billion dollars. One of the largest challenges in osteoporosis diagnostics at moment is low accessibility of diagnostics. The diagnosis is only made in larger hospitals after a X-ray examination.
In Finland, many clinics are using Bindex® and the number of customers is increasing.
